Sport for Peace tournament unites six bomas in Magwi County
WPESS hosted a two-day "Sport for Peace" football tournament in Obbo Payam, Magwi County, one of the areas hardest hit by conflict, insecurity, and displacement. 325 players from six bomas (Labato, Lowudo, Alia, Lerwa, Cama, and Licari) took part, including 150 women playing alongside 150 men, with 25 community leaders and more than 1,000 spectators.
The tournament was supported by GIZ South Sudan through the Community-Driven Rural Development (CDRD) project, jointly funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with local officials including Magwi County's Executive Director taking part.
